The first game of the new year and my first time for quite a while venturing out of London to watch a game of football. 

It was the away side who took the lead with only five minutes played. A free kick was swung into the box from the edge of the area and met by the head of the No.4 and captain, who saw his effort loop over the keeper and into the net. 

The rest of the action in the first half was rather scrappy in fairness, which resulted in not a lot of chances for either side being created. 

Three minutes after the break, it was the captain again who doubled Rushdens lead. A swift counter attack resulted in the ball being played up to the No.10. He then held the ball up and played it through to the No.4 who found himself one on one with the goalkeeper. He kept his composure and slotted the ball underneath the goalkeeper and sent the away end into madness. 

Once again though the game turned scrappy. The only action came from the crowd. First of all, the drummer for Corby Town dropped his equipment accidentally and broke it so just decided to walk away. Secondly an effort on goal was put over the bar and the ball knocked over a spectators pint, proceeding it to go everywhere and anywhere. 

With eight minutes remaining, the home side were awarded a penalty. A soft call from the referee from my point of view as an attacker had his shirt pulled back slightly. The No.8 stepped up to take it and smashed it into the left side of the net. 

In the last minutes of the game, Rushden were able to break away again and play the ball through to the No.10. He held off his man and slotted the ball into the corner of the net, sealing the game there and then. 

The full time whistle then went, with the final score finishing 3-1 to the away side.

Tooting Bec Vs Clapton CFC  📍 High Road  Tickets: £6 A difficult ground to get to in all honesty but it worked out well in the end. I didn't expect to be offered a lift on route but took the opportunity, big thanks to the Tooting fan who saved me a fair walk!  The game itself was quite an end to end affair, with both sides creating a few half chances each. The opening goal of the game came just before the half time break. A corner was swung into the box from Tooting and then nodded back across the goal. The loose ball was then stabbed in by the No.7 to give the home side the lead.  The pattern of the game continued in the second half, with it becoming a lot more scrappier and stop start. With the game approaching the final whistle, Tooting added a second goal to seal the win. Another corner was swung into the box but this time cleared. It was then worked back out and crossed in towards the No.6. He managed to meet the ball with his head and saw it roll into the back...

AFC Royal Holloway Vs Richmond & Kew FC 📍 Royal Holloway College Sports Centre  Tickets: Free Entry  Another eventful game in the Surrey Premier League which saw the away side dominate the match.  The first goal of the game went in just after thirty five minutes had been played. A corner ball found itself eventually working it's way out to Richmonds No.31 on the edge of the box. He then set himself and let off a brilliant strike into the top right hand corner of the net.  A couple of minutes before the break, the away side managed to double their lead. A lovely through ball from the No.7 split the defence and allowed the No.7 to run through clear on goal. He kept his composure and slotted the ball into the corner of the net.  In the second half, with half an hour left to play, Richmond added a third in style to kill off any hopes of a comeback from Holloway.
